This Red Aids Ribbon crest is to help raise awareness and show support for people with HIV. It also symbolizes addiction, blood cancer, heart disease, tuberculosis, and zika virus, among many other causes.

Red was specifically chosen due to its emotional connotations (passion and anger) and its bodily (blood). Blood Sisters, an organized grassroots movement, played a pivotal role in providing care to those suffering from AIDS.
